Equality Objectives survey

Photo

We are developing key themes, known as our Equality Objectives, which we really hope will make a difference to our diverse communities across Sussex and we need your help.

The Equality Act 2010 identifies nine categories which are known as protected characteristics.  These are:

•    Age
•    Disability
•    Gender reassignment
•    Pregnancy & maternity
•    Race
•    Religion and belief
•    Sex
•    Sexual orientation
•    Marriage & civil partnership

People who belong to groups defined by any of these characteristics must have their needs taken into account by us and it is our duty to:

•    Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct prohibited by the act
•    Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not
•    Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not

To make sure that you, and all those in your communities, have your needs and voices represented, please take a few minutes to fill in our short survey and let us know what you think.
