Internet safety
Your children may know more about the internet and computer technology than you do - but they still need guidance about keeping themselves safe when using the internet.
Make sure your children know how to enjoy the internet safely - talk to them about the ways they can be vulnerable on the internet. Remind them:
- Everyone you meet online is a stranger, even though they might seem like a friend
- Always use a nickname when logging on and never give out personal details
- Never arrange to meet someone you make friends with online
- Try to have online conversations in public chatrooms
- Emails and files from people you don't know could contain viruses and nasty messages or links
- If you are worried or upset about anything you see or receive online, tell an adult (someone you know well)
