Amusement arcades, gambling and betting

Photo

There is no legal age limit for children and young people to enter an Amusement Arcade and play video games. Laws about amusement arcades can be complicated and can vary from town to town. Reports of disturbances in the area of an amusement arcade can be made to your local Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Generally, you need to be 18 years old to bet or gamble, or to work in gambling/betting. The National Lottery (Lotto) and scratch cards are slightly different and you need to be 16 to take part.

Fruit machines in pubs and clubs must be licensed. Betting or gaming in pubs is illegal in most cases. For further information, contact a licensing officer at Sussex Police.
