At age 5 years:
• You must go to school, or be receiving alternative
education (e.g. Home Education).
• You can go to a U or PG rated film at the cinema.
• You can have an account in your name with a bank or a
building society.
• You can have premium bonds in your name.
At age 7 years:
• You can draw money from a Post Office or savings
account.
At age 10 years:
• You can be held criminally responsible.
At age 12 years:
• You can see a 12A film unaccompanied.
At age 13 years:
• You can be employed for a certain number of hours
a week.
At age 14 years:
• Be responsible for wearing your own seat belt in a
vehicle.
At age 15 years:
• You can go to a 15, 12 or PG certificate film without
consent.
At age 16 years:
• You can sell scrap metal.
• You can join a Trade Union.
• You can leave school, after the official leaving
date.
• You can join the Armed Forces with parental consent but not
permitted into a war zone.
• You can choose your own doctor.
• You can claim social security benefits.
• You can be employed full time.
• You can get married with one parents' consent.

restaurant if accompanied by someone 18 or over.

• You can bet.
• You can purchase fireworks.
• You can purchase houses and land.

professionally.
• You can sit on a jury.
• You can get a tattoo.
• You can purchase alcohol.
• You can consume alcohol in a pub.

At age 21 years:
• You can stand in a parliamentary or local
election.
• You can drive any mechanically propelled vehicle (providing
relevant tests have been passed).
• You can hold a licence to sell alcohol.
• You can adopt a child.
