Hallowe'en - Trick or Treating Advice
- NEVER go into a stranger's house.
- Always carry a torch or glow stick when you go out.
- Do NOT approach houses with the 'NO Trick or Treating' signs. They are there for a reason.
- If a person stops their car, stay on the pavement no matter what they offer you, go straight to an adult and tell them what happened.
- Know your telephone number in case you are separated or there is a problem. Go straight to a real police officer or someone you know. Do not go inside the house.
- Do NOT 'Trick' strangers - consider how would you feel if it was your Grandparents that were afraid.
- Have a parent/guardian check your treats before you eat ANY of them, to make sure that they are okay, and have never been opened or tampered with. Inspect surface closely for punctures or holes and cut fruit open before consuming.
- Travel only on the pre-established route and make sure you have set a time for returning home and keep to it. Do not take short cuts.
- Never use a sharp knife to cut out your pumpkin. Draw your face and design and get an adult to assist you.
- Do not wear costumes that are heavy or too long, you do not want to trip.
- Wear light coloured costumes or put reflective tape on your costume.
- Use makeup instead of masks so that you can see properly. If you have to wear a mask - cut eyeholes large enough for full vision. If you use wigs or beards keep them away from your eyes and mouth - you need to see and breathe.
- Walk do not run, there will be enough for everyone and do not dart from between parked cars.
