Arson
When criminal damage is caused by fire, it is known as arson.
Criminal Damage occurs when someone, without lawful excuse:
- Destroys or damages property that belongs to another person.
- Intends to destroy or damage such property.
- Or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged.
If the damage results in endangering life, a separate offence is committed.
