A police football tournament has raised an incredible £480 for the Chestnut Tree House - the only children's hospice in Sussex.

The third annual Brighton & Hove 6-a-side football tournament took place on 17 July and was held at Whiteman's Green, Cuckfield. 12 teams from across Sussex Police entered and competed against each other throughout a very showery summer's day.

Brighton & Hove Division's Sports & Social club funded the cost of the event so that all money raised by entrance fees could go to The Chestnut Tree Children's Hospice.

The event was won by East Downs Vets who became the first team outside of Brighton & Hove Division to take the trophy. Many departments were represented - Neighbourhood Policing Teams, Custody, CID and 1 Neighbourhood Response section came to the tournament straight from their night shift and to the perplexity of other participants, seemed to get stronger as the day went on!

The planning has started for next years' event and we hope to keep increasing the number of teams supporting this fun event and excellent charity.
