Not just police officers!
Police Staff Profiles
Claudine Rosendale, 28, Force Analyst, Force Intelligence Bureau, Sussex House.
I’ve been working as a Force Analyst for just over a year now and
I still have so much to learn about the job, which is one of the things I enjoy
most.
Yes it’s sometimes stressful, but the challenge of not knowing
what you’re going to face from one day to the next makes each week interesting
and exciting.
My role involves using advanced computer systems to analyse a wide range of data,
to discover patterns linking organised crime and criminals throughout the different
divisions of Sussex Police. This means I look at the big picture, using association
charts, telephone analysis, market profiles along with other analytical products,
to piece together vital data to assist in the detection of crime.
Initial response
I am involved in Operation Sceptre, Sussex Police’s operation against crack
cocaine, as well as violent crime such as murder, armed robberies, rapes and serious
sexual offences.
Prior to this I worked in Force Command and Control dealing with the initial response
to serious incidents, such as when the Tactical Firearms Unit needed to be deployed
and considering the use of specialist units like the Force helicopter, underwater
search or dog units.
I work with the Force Crime and Drug Unit. It’s very exciting when we are
able to use their intelligence and link it with our research, to assist in their
operation. What I love about my role now is that as well as being response orientated
I have long-term goals and am able to see my work through to a successful conclusion,
which I find very rewarding.
The team in Force Intelligence Bureau consists of quite a mixed bunch, with experienced
police officers, retired officers working as police staff, people from other forces
such as the Metropolitan Police alongside new staff who have never worked for
the police force before. It’s a friendly and lively office and whilst enjoying
our work, we are all very serious about what we do.
