Arson at Rye Football and Cricket ground

In the early hours of Saturday 21st August 2010 East Sussex Fire
and Rescue Service were called to the Rye Football and Cricket
ground where the Sports Pavilion was reported to be on fire. The
fire has damaged the building extensively and the incident is being
investigated as arson.
Rother CID are leading the investigation and are appealling for
witnesses or information about who is or is suspected to be
responsible or anyone seen in the vicinity of the Sports Pavilion
on Friday evening or early hours of Saturday morning.
Chief Inspector Heather Keating said: " This crime will have a
significant effect on those people who use the sports pavilion and
the wider community. I am determind to do everything we can to
catch those responsible. I believe this was committed by someone
living locally and that the community can help to identify those
responsible.
"My Neighbourhood Policing Team will be patrolling the area to
provide visibility and reassurance and I urge you to stop and talk
to them if you have any information that can help us make a prompt
arrest."
