Crawley assault: Second man arrested

Police investigating a serious assault outside the Centaur Club in Crawley have arrested another man.

A 33-year-old man from Tonbridge, Kent, was arrested yesterday and is currently in custody in Crawley on suspicion of GBH.

The 30-year-old victim of the assault, which took place on Saturday 21 August, remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Police continue to question a 28-year-old  man from Westerham, Kent, arrested on 22 August. He remains in police custody today (12.10pm, 24 August).

DI Pierre Serra, investigating the assault, said: "We are still keen to hear from anyone who may have information about what happened outside the Centaur Club on Saturday night.

"The victim is suffering from some very serious injuries and is currently unable to give us an account of the incident.

"Officers have been reviewing CCTV from the scene and working with staff at the social club to establish the circumstances.

"I would urge anyone with information to contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Seabrook or by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
