Brighton march: Arrests update

Fourteen arrests were made as around 250 protesters took part in
an English Nationalists Alliance (ENA) march and Unite Against
Fascism (UAF) counter-protest in Brighton city centre on Bank
Holiday Monday (30 August).
The arrests were made for public order offences, assault and to
prevent a breach of peace. These included a 19-year-old London man
and a 32-year-old man both arrested for breach of peace. They were
both later released without charge.
A 36-year-old Worthing man and a 39-year-old Brighton man both
arrested for breach of peace and refusing to assemble in a
designated area. They were also later released without
charge.
A Portslade man aged 42 was arrested for committing grievous bodily
harm and later released on police bail until 16 October. A
19-year-old man arrested for breach of the peace, assault and
obstruction was later released on bail until 7 October.
An 18-year-old man from Brighton was released on bail until 5
October after he was arrested for provocation of violence and
refusing to assemble in a designated area. Two Brighton men, one
aged 18, who were arrested for breach of peace were both later
released without further action.
A 17-year-old boy, two 16-year-old boys from London and one
15-year-old boy from Middlesex were all released on police bail
until 1 October after all being arrested for using alarm, racially
aggravated harassment and breach of the peace.
Josef Janacek, 26, of no fixed address appeared at Brighton
Magistrates' Court today (31 August) after being arrested at the
event and later charged with possession of an offensive weapon
namely three metal ratchets.
