Robbery in Newhaven
Robbery in Newhaven
27 January 2012
A man has been robbed of
his gold Rolex watch and wedding ring in
Newhaven.
The incident happened at 1.55pm
on Monday 16 January when the victim drove his black Range Rover
Sports vehicle to The Crest, a partially completed block of flats
at the bottom of Hill Crest Road.
He got out of his car and went
into the building, followed shortly afterwards by a white man
dressed in a dark blue/black hoodie, dark grey baseball hat and
dark coloured jeans.
The victim, a 56 year old man from Hertfordshire, was
then attacked and robbed of his jewellery.
At the time of the theft a second
man was standing at the entrance of the development; following the
incident, both men ran from the scene.
Police are appealing for any
witnesses who may have seen anyone matching the description of
the suspects either at the scene or in Newhaven. Police would
also like to identify a blond woman in her 20s who was walking
along Hill Crest Road and to whom the victim
spoke immediately after the incident.
The robber who attacked the
victim has been described as having an eyebrow piercing (a stud);
he also had light coloured stubble and smelt of cigarette
smoke.
The watch is a vintage
Rolex Oyster worth approximately £8,000 to £10,000, with a
gold strap and casing and a cream face. The wedding ring is a gold
Cartier.
