Man charged following aggravated burglary at Bognor supermarket

Dean Hardman, 32, of Chalcraft Lane, Bognor Regis, has been
charged with burglary other than dwelling, aggravated burglary
other than dwelling, possession of an offensive weapon and taking a
motor vehicle without the owner's consent.
He appeared before Chichester Magistrates' Court on Monday 30 January, where he was remanded into custody until April 2012.
At 6.30am on Saturday police attended the Co-Op in The Parade
following reports of a robbery.
It is reported that two men entered the store and threatened
staff with what is thought to have been a machete.
The staff handed over cash and several thousand pounds were
stolen. Staff, although shaken, were uninjured.
A 32-year-old man was arrested a short time after the
incident.
Detective Sergeant Russ Burgess of West Sussex CID
said: "Three members of staff were in the shop at the time of the
incident and they did the right thing in handing over the
money.
"We are currently working to locate a second man who we
believe was involved in this robbery."
