Man assaulted in Eastbourne street

Police are seeking witnesses to an incident in which a 19-year old local man was assaulted in Ashford Road, Eastbourne, in the early hours of Tuesday 31 January. He was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital and treated for facial injuries including a fractured eye socket, but was discharged later the same day. It is believed the assault followed a dispute which had developed in a house in the street. There are no reports of any other injuries. No arrests have been made at this stage but enquiries are continuing. 

Detective Sergeant Ross Bartlett said; "It is not yet clear exactly what time the attack happened or how the injuries were caused, but we believe it was sometime before 5.20am. We are asking anyone who was in the area early on Tuesday morning to contact us via 101 quoting serial 0500 of 1/2."
