Woman resisted bag snatchers in Chichester

01 February 2012

A 19-year-old woman resisted three teenagers who ran off empty-handed after they pushed her over and tried to snatch her backpack.

The woman was walking across a field  near the bottom of College Lane, Chichester, at 1.30pm on 26 January when  the boys demanded her bag and pulled at it.

She resisted and suffered a sprained and bruised wrist and a torn muscle. The boys ran off empty-handed into Spitalfield Lane.

All three youths, described as white and aged around 16, were wearing hoodies, two coloured black and one grey.

DS Sally Arbuckle said: "The teenager was approached in the middle of the day by youths who pulled at her bag, demanding she hand it over. She called out and fought back leading to them to run off empty- handed. If anyone witnessed the incident or has any information that would help us in their investigation they should contact Sussex Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
