Two men attacked in Littlehampton

10 February 2012

Detectives in Littlehampton are appealing for information to two separate attacks on lone men as they walked through an alleyway between Cornwall Road and Hampton Fields, known locally as 'Jay's Alley'.

The incidents happened on February 6 and 7 between4pmand5pm.

In the first, two men approached a 15 year old walking home from school and demanded money from him. They tried to unzip his bag but were stopped by the victim. They both then punched him in the face before making off. The suspects are both white and 15-16 years of age. One was about 5'5" tall, with short brownish hair, wearing a grey hoody and lighter grey tracksuit bottoms. The second suspect was 5'7" tall, with very dark brown hair, wearing blue jeans with a black and blue trench coat.

The following day a man approached a street cleaner whilst he was working and after purposely bumping into him, demanded his wallet and mobile phone. The victim refused and the offender ran off. The suspect is described as an Asian man with tanned skin, 5'10" tall, of medium build and between 25-30 years of age. He had dark short hair, was clean shaven and possibly had an old injury to one side of his face. He was wearing a dark hooded top with the hood down, a dark pair of trousers and white trainers with a black 1" stripe across the toe area.

Police are appealing for witnesses to either of these incidents to contact them on 101 quoting crime number WA2/011378/12 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
