Equipment Boost For Firearms Unit The Sussex Police Tactical Firearms Unit has welcomed the donation of funds to purchase 5 new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) machines.
The money to provide the machines was provided by the Sussex Heart Charity, who also paid for two training devices to assist with the continuation training of officers.
The AEDs will be carried on board the operational armed response vehicles (ARVs) which routinely patrol Sussex 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They will also be deployed on any pre-planned operation undertaken by the firearms unit.
Sergeant Neil Jones, from the Tactical Firearms Unit, said:
"These AEDs will increase the availability of these life saving devices to the public of Sussex, and will also provide support to the nationwide defibrillator public access programme."
