Information rights

Sussex Police seeks to be as open and transparent as possible in its dealings with the public and consistent with the requirements of the law - including legitimate rights to personal privacy.

In addition to existing normal channels of communication, whether with organisations or individuals, the Force also makes information available in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) 2000 and the Data Protection Act (DPA) 1998.

The Freedom of Information Act requires compliance with a Publication Scheme to specify the classes of information the public authority already publishes or intends to publish. Our intention is to publish as much information as possible on subjects where there is known to be public interest. However, exemptions under the Freedom of Information Act may prevent some information from being released.

In providing this information Sussex Police is following the legally approved model publication scheme issued by the Information Commissioner.
