The process of application
Whilst we cannot give a definite timing on the application process, you
can expect to go through the following stages:
Stage one
Attend pre-recruitment event.
Stage two
Application is paper-sifted and competency based questions marked.
Stage three
All security and force checks carried out.
Stage four
Assessment Day - If successful at the assessment day you will be sent a pre-employment
medical questionnaire and eyesight form to complete. The medical questionnaire
needs to be completed, signed by your GP and returned to the Occupational Health
Unit, along with the eyesight certificate, signed by an optician. N.B. Your doctor
may charge for this.
Stage five
Previous employment checks, school, college or personal references are done (current employment checks are not carried out at this stage).
Stage six
Fitness (when you receive your results from the Assessment Centre you will be given a fitness date). You can read more about this in our fitness
feature.
Stage seven
Medical - If the medical evidence on your medical questionnaire is ok you will be invited to attend a medical, if we have received all the responses from the references. Delays occur at this stage if further medical information is needed. Occupational Health will write to your GP. Should your GP charge a fee for this, you will be responsible for meeting the cost. Your application cannot proceed until your GP responds.
Stage eight
After a successful medical, a member of the Recruiting Team will discuss available start dates with you. You will also be required to produce your educational certificates, proof of identity and your National Insurance Number at this stage. |
