Hastings Police has donated £200 to Bexleigh, Hythe, Abbey (BHA)
Residents' Association to fund the design and construction of a
children's play park in the local area.
The BHA Residents' Association was founded by the area's local
Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) scheme. The long term plan is build a
children's play park at Coombe Valley behind the garden centre.
Local councillor Mike Howard, Laura Beerling of Hastings Borough
Council, and volunteers are working in partnership to raise between
£60,000 and £120,000 for the project to go ahead. Children from
nearby schools were consulted during the design process and it is
hoped that the play park will be open for use by Summer 2014.
Dee Spears, BHA Residents' Association secretary, said: "I would
like to thank police for this donation. The idea for the play park
was discussed at our NHW meetings and is a much-needed asset to our
community.
"The nearest play parks are fairly far away at either end of a
busy main road. For more information about the play park we have a
Facebook page 'Combe Valley Children's Playground Project, West St
Leonards' so please take a look."

£300 passed to our Club by PCSO Christine Cooley, I just wish to
thank the Police for your kind generous gift towards our funds.
Our members vary in financial
status and this enables us to take them out for lunches and teas
during the year without having to ask them for a financial
contribution. On behalf of the members, thank you once again for
this cheque. Also our thanks go to PCSO Cooley who has been so
helpful.

serving and veteran members of the armed forces and their families,

event saw Rye Neighbourhood Policing Team's PCSO Andy Smith (the
South East rep for AFB and a Royal Navy veteran), his trike
nicknamed 'Bilge Rat', and his team set up a stall to raise money
for the charity. The stall was possible, in part, following a
donation of £250 earlier in the year from the Sussex Police
Property Act fund.
PCSO Smith said: "The day was a huge success for my team and I
with over £900 raised. This was made possible partly thanks to a
£250 donation from Sussex Police which was used to buy a gazebo and
other equipment that can be used all over the area.
"We raise money by the sale of charity merchandise and sponsored
events around the UK. There are quite a few events we will be
attending this summer including Armed Forces Day in Alexandra Park,
Hastings on 30 June."
