Shoreham footbridge now open

Shoreham footbridge has now reopened after a suspected ordnance was discovered in the River Adur by workers excavating the area.
 
The item, which turned out to be a gas cannister, has been removed.
 
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: "The footbridge was closed for the safety of the public while the item was assessed.
 
"We understand that this caused some inconvenience to users of the footbridge and thank them for their understanding and patience during this time."
