Op Creosote - day of action in Wealden

08 February 2013

Wealden Neighbourhood Policing Team completed a successful Operation Creosote day of action in Uckfield on Wednesday (6th February).

Following a recent increase in reports of thefts from garages, a team of 13 PCSOs, police officers and local volunteers knocked on approximately 1,000 doors.

Some 75 residents were signed up to the community messaging system, which will keep them updated about policing related issues. Approximately 175 residents were seen face to face and given practical crime prevention advice in their homes.

Sgt Amy Mason, from Uckfield's Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "This has been a fantastic success, an example of the community working together to raise awareness of this type of crime.

"Volunteers from local residents' groups have shown us great support and we hope to continue to promote this kind of working in Uckfield."
