Littlehampton woman sexually assaulted
13 February 2013
A 46-year-old woman was sexually assaulted as she walked home
from a friends house in the early hours of Sunday 3 February.
The victim reported to police that as she was walking along Bell
Davies Road at around 1.30am a man approached her from behind and
asked if she had a light. He then grabbed at her breasts and groin
area before she managed to shout out for help, causing him to run
off.
PC Claire Richardson from West Sussex Response Investigation Team
said: "This was a very distressing incident for the victim and I
would urge anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity or who
knows who is responsible for this assault to please get in touch.
You can call 101 quoting serial 0168 of 3/2 or alternatively leave
an anonymous message with the independent charity Crimestoppers on
0800 555 111.
"We would also like to hear from anyone who has been the victim of
a similar sexual assault and has not yet reported it to police -
your call will be dealt with in strict confidence and you will
be offered help and support."
There is no description of the suspect other than he spoke with a
non English accent. An area search was conducted straight after the
report to police but the suspect was not found. Local house to
house enquiries and a scene examination were also carried out.
