Attempted handbag snatch in Bognor

Police in Bognor are seeking a man who tried to snatch a handbag
from a woman in the street
At 10.20pm on Wednesday 13 February the 21-year old local woman was
walking home from work through the underpass which leads from
Longford Road to Gordon Road in Bognor. She saw a man walking from
Gordon Road towards the underpass, and he was apparently on his
mobile phone talking in a language not known to her. As he
approached her he grabbed the strap of her handbag, which was on
her shoulder, tugging it several times. However the woman resisted
punched the man in the face. He let go of the handbag and ran off
towards Longford Road.
The suspect is described as white, in his late 30's, 6' tall and of
medium build with a bald spot on the crown of his head and the of
his head is razor shaven. He had a tooth missing from the front
right upper jaw (not from the punch), a tattoo on four knuckles on
his right hand. He was wearing a brown leather jacket of quilted
square pattern, grey track suit bottoms with two vertical grey
strips down the leg, and black trainers.
The victim was shaken but unhurt and did not report the incident to
police until Thursday afternoon.
