Two woman die in Petworth collision

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision in Petworth on Saturday night (28 September)

A silver Volkswagen Golf was travelling north on the A285 at Upwaltham near Petworth when it turned right into an unnamed road across the path of a blue Honda Civic. The two cars collided around 10.45pm.

Two woman, a 75-year-old and a 74-year-old, who were passengers in Golf, both from London died from their injuries. The 85-year-old male driver and his 74-year-old woman passenger, also both from London, suffered serious injures and were taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

The 28-year-old man from Chichester, who was driving the Honda, suffered whiplash. His passenger, a 25-year-old man from Chichester, also suffered whiplash.
