Local priorities
Speeding - Residents have raised concerns reagrding the speed at which drivers are travelling through the village.
Issue raised on 30 Apr 2012
SID (Speed indication Device) will be deployed in problem areas to educate drivers on the speeds they are travelling at. Results will be analysed aand where appropriate, the speed gun will be deployed and fixed penalty tickets issued to offending vehicles.
Section 59 of the Police Reform Act will also be used to deter anti social driving. Any persons seen driving in an anti-social manner, causing alarm, harrassment or distress can be issued a Sec 59 warning. If two warnings are recieved on the driver or vehicle in 12 months, the vehicle will be seized.
On 9th March the Roads Policing Team conducted Speed checks through the village of Funtington, no offences were seen.
On Tuesday 13th March 2012 at 08:40 deployed the Speed Indicator Device for 45 minutes. During this period there were three driving offences seen one for speeding and 2 for no seatbelt. All details of the vehicles were obtained and passed to the Roads Policing Team via Operation Crackdown. All other vehicles that passed through were under the 30MPH speed limit.

Crime Mapper
Go to Crime mapper site
Crime mapping is part of a national initiative to enable members of the public to be apprised of crime levels in their area. The Sussex Police system provides crime levels at three levels: Force-wide, Districts, Wards/beats
How to read crime mapping data
For some smaller areas, the crime rates may appear high. This is primarily due to the low resident population within these areas; crime rates are calculated by dividing the actual number of crimes by the resident population and then multiplying by 1,000. Crime levels are then calculated using standard deviation, a way of fairly measuring and comparing the spread of crime across the force from area to area.
