Local priorities
Speeding - Residents raised concerns regarding speeding within the villages of Plaistow and Ifold. Residents also feel that they would benefit from a Speedwatch Scheme in the village of Loxwood.
Issue raised on 30 Apr 2012
SID (Speed indication Device) will be deployed in problem areas to educate drivers on the speeds they are travelling at. Results will be analysed and where appropriate, the speed gun will be deployed and fixed penalty tickets issued to offending vehicles.
Section 59 of the Police Reform Act will also be used to deter anti social driving. Any persons seen driving in an anti-social manner, causing alarm, harrassment or distress can be issued a Sec 59 warning. If two warnings are recieved on the driver or vehicle in 12 months, the vehicle will be seized..

The number of incidents of theft from motor vehicle has seen an increase.
Regular patrols take place at all car parks across the district. We offer crime prevention to those we see at the car parks in the hope that they leave no valuables in their vehicles, detering theives.
A number of operations are held throughout the year in order to catch thieves. These prove to be successful and will continue.

Crime Mapper
Go to Crime mapper site
Crime mapping is part of a national initiative to enable members of the public to be apprised of crime levels in their area. The Sussex Police system provides crime levels at three levels: Force-wide, Districts, Wards/beats
How to read crime mapping data
For some smaller areas, the crime rates may appear high. This is primarily due to the low resident population within these areas; crime rates are calculated by dividing the actual number of crimes by the resident population and then multiplying by 1,000. Crime levels are then calculated using standard deviation, a way of fairly measuring and comparing the spread of crime across the force from area to area.
