Inconsiderate parking was still a problem in the Enys Road and Selwyn Road areas
Issue raised on 7 May 2012

Motorists are still parking across the dropped kerbs PCSO Edwards has issued a number of tickets. A notice be displayed informing drivers of the danger of contravening this little known parking rule. Unlike most other dropped kerbs in the Town, these do not have double yellow lines across them and it would be up to the County Council to approve and pay for such lines. The problem of double parking in Enys Road was again raised and the question asked if there was a likelihood of parking permits being extended to cover this area. C/Cllr Rodohan explained that this was unlikely as the County Council were of the opinion that if the parking permit zone were to be extended it would only cause motorists to park further out. PCSO Edwards will continue to monitor the area

The taxi rank in Old Orchard Road was causing concern – vehicles had their engines running for long periods causing unnecessary noise. Residents cannot get out of their driveways.
Issue raised on 6 May 2012

The matter is to be reported to the chair of the Taxi forum Update 9/5/12 matter raised at the taxi forum and discussions are in place with ESCC who regulate taxi ranks over the length of the rank

Crime Mapper

Go to Crime mapper site

Crime mapping is part of a national initiative to enable members of the public to be apprised of crime levels in their area. The Sussex Police system provides crime levels at three levels: Force-wide, Districts, Wards/beats

How to read crime mapping data

For some smaller areas, the crime rates may appear high. This is primarily due to the low resident population within these areas; crime rates are calculated by dividing the actual number of crimes by the resident population and then multiplying by 1,000. Crime levels are then calculated using standard deviation, a way of fairly measuring and comparing the spread of crime across the force from area to area.
