On April 17 your District Commander took part in a day of live webchats as part of our commitment to become more open and transparent - you can watch the videos and read the conversations about policing in your area on our Sussex Policing Live page.

District Commander's message: Chief Inspector Katy Woolford

We are just entering the new performance year within the police which runs from 1 April to the end of March - officers across the district have been worked really hard to ensure that overall crime has fallen by 5.3% in comparison to the previous year. This equates to nearly 200 less offences. Rother has the highest level of victim  satisfaction in the Force relating to being kept informed and actions taken by officers. These figures are indicative of officers wanting to do the best for victims of crime.

Rother like many other districts within the Force have seen an increase in burglaries over the last year. We know this is a crime that when it happens to you can have a really big impact on your lives. Catching the criminals that commit burglaries is one of our targets this year, and we are already seeing results as we have arrested 4 persons in the last couple of weeks for this offence. We will be carrying out targeted patrols in the areas where burglaries are happening and making communities aware so you can be vigilant.

As I always stress in all public meeting or press releases we cannot catch criminals on our own and we need your help to catch these people. Please ensure you call us if you see anything suspicious or if you have any information - Rother relies on you.

We have recently launched Op Marker which is a free property marking scheme and crime prevention event, these will help you protect your property and make selling property on much harder. Please look out for dates being advertised in your  communities.

We have recently appointed an engagement officer whose role is to ensure we get as much relevant information to you and in the way you want. If you would like to  receive information on a regular basis about your area you can do so by registering here.

I am going to be taking part in a live web chat on Tuesday 17 April, this is an opportunity for you to ask me anything you like about policing on Rother, please take the time to do so if you have a question for me.
