Local priorities
What you said:
There was a fear of becoming a victim of burglary (set at the last Neighbourhood Panel Meeting).
Issue raised on 18 Mar 2012
What we did:
This is very much a perceived fear of crime.
Operation Collusion & Operation Solar - This operation has recently been supported by Rye NPT and is a multi-agency venture involving Sussex Police, Kent Police, UK Immigration and the Department of Work and Pensions. Using the latest Policing technology this operation seeks to disrupt travelling criminals.
What happened:
The burglary rate of Marsham Ward remains very low.
General Advice:
Always check visitors credentials. If they are Officials then they will have official identification. Check it carefully. If you are unsure either don’t let them in or telephone their offices. Get the number from Directory Enquiries not from the person waiting outside. If you are still unsure there is no problem in calling the Police to check them out.
Thank You

All of the villages in Marsham Ward now have Speed Indication Device (SID) sites as well as enforceable speed sites.
What happened:
Speeding remains a priority and we are continuing with our efforts. Positive feedback is being received from the community.

Crime Mapper
Go to Crime mapper site
Crime mapping is part of a national initiative to enable members of the public to be apprised of crime levels in their area. The Sussex Police system provides crime levels at three levels: Force-wide, Districts, Wards/beats
How to read crime mapping data
For some smaller areas, the crime rates may appear high. This is primarily due to the low resident population within these areas; crime rates are calculated by dividing the actual number of crimes by the resident population and then multiplying by 1,000. Crime levels are then calculated using standard deviation, a way of fairly measuring and comparing the spread of crime across the force from area to area.
