Local priorities

Icklesham Parish (Icklesham, Winchelsea, Winchelsea Beach and Rye Harbour) What you said: Fear of crime Decided at Icklesham Parish Priority Setting Meeting held on 13th June 2011.
Issue raised on 13 Jun 2011

What we did: Specific locations have been identified; Neighbourhood Watch schemes are being set up in those areas and contact details of local Police distributed. High visibility patrols continue and reassurance visits, including crime prevention advice, are being given to victims. What happened: Many roads in the Parish now have NHW schemes running and have local Police contact information but more work is required to find NHW coordinators in more areas. This priority remained the same at the last Icklesham Parish Priority Setting Meeting held on 19th September 2011.
Action taken on 19 Sep 2011

Icklesham Parish (Icklesham, Winchelsea, Winchelsea Beach and Rye Harbour) What you said: Speeding Decided at Icklesham Parish Priority Setting Meeting held on 13th June 2011.
Issue raised on 13 Jun 2011

What we did: Speed checks have been carried out and offenders dealt with accordingly. Persistent offenders are being targeted by the Roads Policing Unit. Operation Crackdown has also been promoted in the area. What happened: Speed checks have been increased and as a result an extra 70 warning letters have been issued in Icklesham Parish alone when compared to the last quarter. This is however an ongoing problem that we will continue to combat. This priority remained the same at the last Icklesham Parish Priority Setting Meeting held on 19th September 2011.
Action taken on 19 Sep 2011

Icklesham Parish (Icklesham, Winchelsea, Winchelsea Beach and Rye Harbour) What you said: Anti-Social Behaviour Decided at Icklesham Parish Priority Setting Meeting held on 13th June 2011.
Issue raised on 13 Jun 2011

What we did: High visibility patrols have been stepped up in previous ‘Hot Spot’ locations with the use of Operation Blitz; offenders have been dealt with accordingly with their details passed to the anti-social behaviour officer for future reference and letters to be sent to parents / offenders. What happened: ASB has been fairly low when compared to previous years. Although there were reports of criminal damage (mainly in Winchelsea Beach) over the last 3 months there has been less reports of ASB. This priority remained the same at the last Icklesham Parish Priority Setting Meeting held on 19th September 2011.
Action taken on 19 Sep 2011

Camber and East Guldeford What you said: Parking was a problem in this area particularly during the summer and when events were held at local venues. (set at the last Neighbourhood Panel Meeting).
Issue raised on 1 Apr 2011

What we did: 106 Fixed Penalty Notices for parking and 16 CLE’s for no tax. issued during the summer of 2010. What happened: Operation Radcott to commence from July 22nd 2011.
Action taken on 1 Sep 2011

Camber and East Guldeford What you said: There was a concern that Anti Social Behaviour was increasing (set at the last Neighbourhood Panel Meeting).
Issue raised on 1 Apr 2011

What we did: Possibly due to the poor summer weather, Camber has had few incidents of Anti Social Behaviour. Patrols are conducted by Police and PCSO’s and will continue. What happened: Anti Social Behaviour is a seasonal problem which will continue to be addressed. Night shift patrols will continue but if there are specific areas and times you wish us to target please advise us.
Action taken on 1 Sep 2011

Camber and East Guldeford What you said: Speeding was a real concern on the Lydd Road, Camber (set at the last Neighbourhood Panel Meeting).
Issue raised on 1 Apr 2011

What we did: Numerous speed checks carried out and Warning letters have been issued by PCSO’s and fines by Police Officers. What happened: Reports of speeding drivers have decreased but this is an ongoing problem which will continue to be monitored.
Action taken on 1 Sep 2011

Crime Mapper

Go to Crime mapper site

Crime mapping is part of a national initiative to enable members of the public to be apprised of crime levels in their area. The Sussex Police system provides crime levels at three levels: Force-wide, Districts, Wards/beats

How to read crime mapping data

For some smaller areas, the crime rates may appear high. This is primarily due to the low resident population within these areas; crime rates are calculated by dividing the actual number of crimes by the resident population and then multiplying by 1,000. Crime levels are then calculated using standard deviation, a way of fairly measuring and comparing the spread of crime across the force from area to area.
