Local priorities
What you said:
The panel has raised speeding at Fermor Road as an issue of community concern. The panel has identified that this is predominantly an issue during the day when traffic flow is not congested by schools / rush hour volume traffic.
Issue raised on 11 May 2012
What we did:
Police presence has been increased in the area, and proactive enforcement has also been carried out.
What happened:
1x Fixed Penalty Notice has been issued at the location so far (since February 2012). Due to road works at the location, enforcment has been limited to only two checks. These road works are now complete, and more enforcement is planned.
Action taken on 11 May 2012
What you said:
Panel members have identified that drivers persistently park on the yellow zigzag 'school keep clear' markings outside Jarvis Brook Primary School. This causes congestion at an already busy stretch of road. This is only a problem at the start and end of the school day.
Issue raised on 11 May 2012
What we did:
This is being continually monitored by panel members and and police. Police presence has been directed at peak times for maximum impact.
What happened:
Insp Wakefield is discussing enforcement options with ESCC Highways Dept.
PCSOs Parnell-Mace and Yau are liaising with the school, and 'keep safe' materials will be passed to parents via the school newsletter and web based information.
Action taken on 11 May 2012
Crime Mapper
Go to Crime mapper site
Crime mapping is part of a national initiative to enable members of the public to be apprised of crime levels in their area. The Sussex Police system provides crime levels at three levels: Force-wide, Districts, Wards/beats
How to read crime mapping data
For some smaller areas, the crime rates may appear high. This is primarily due to the low resident population within these areas; crime rates are calculated by dividing the actual number of crimes by the resident population and then multiplying by 1,000. Crime levels are then calculated using standard deviation, a way of fairly measuring and comparing the spread of crime across the force from area to area.
