Police are appealing for witnesses after a white BMW X5 series drove into the front facade of the Co-operative in Battle Road, St Leonards, just before 11pm on Monday (6 November).

At least three individuals, suspected to be men, wearing balaclavas and dark clothing got out of the car, believed to have been stolen from Hertfordshire, and walked into the shop with baseball bats and a metal pole.

Damage was caused to the shop and the suspects attempted, but failed, to remove the free standing ATM machine within.

The three left the shop in a different white car, believed to be a sports model.

Staff were present but were not hurt.
