Police in Hastings have charged a man with rape.
On 13 April, a woman in her 30s reported that she had been raped the night before by a man who followed her into her home address after driving her home.
She was supported by specialist officers and a suspect was swiftly identified and arrested the same day.
Abdulhamid Alammar, 34, a taxi driver, from St Leonards on Sea, was subsequently arrested and charged with rape and sexual assault by penetration.
He has also been charged with a count of sexual assault by touching in relation to a separate report made by another victim in 2023.
He has been remanded in custody to appear before a court, to be confirmed, on 13 May.
Detective Inspector Carol Shoesmith, of East Sussex Safeguarding Investigation Unit, said: “We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure all victims of rape and sexual assault are supported and receive the justice they deserve.
“Please report any crimes or incidents to us online, via 101 or by dialling 999 in an emergency. You will be heard, believed and supported.”
