A man has been charged and remanded after a stabbing was reported in Trafalgar Street, Brighton.
Joel Elliott, 33, of Springfield Road, Brighton, appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court yesterday (October 24) and has been remanded in custody to await his next appearance on November 21.
Elliott was put before the court to face charges of grievous bodily harm, robbery and possession of a bladed article after an incident in the early hours of October 9.
The victim reported being approached at around 3.30am as he walked along Trafalgar Street, and suffered multiple stab wounds following an attempted robbery.
Members of the public provided crucial care until emergency services arrived at the scene.
From his hospital bed, the victim expressed his thanks to those who assisted him following the attack.
Detective Inspector Donna Ward said: "After a thorough investigation by a team of officers and staff, we have managed to charge and remand a suspect.
“Members of the public should be able to walk the streets at night without the fear of violence, and we are dedicated to ensuring that those who try to infringe upon this right face consequences.
“We thank the members of the public who have assisted with our enquiries, as well as those who helped the victim in his most vulnerable moments."
