Surrey Police and Sussex Police’s new Assistant Chief Constable for Operations Simon Dobinson is determined for people within both forces to continue to find their purpose.
He joined both forces in May bringing 28 years of policing experience from Essex Police and most recently the Metropolitan Police.
ACC Dobinson will be responsible for joint operations command with his portfolio including drones, dogs, firearms, leading on major planned events and roads policing.
Like many people who embark on a career in policing, ACC Dobinson joined as an officer and has now progressed to this role with Surrey Police and Sussex Police.
This is his advice for people who are submitting an application to become a police officer this month:
The appointment of ACC Dobinson shows that policing remains a career where there are opportunities to progress for those who want to advance.
Finally, he has a passion for people working within the police to continually reconnect with their purpose.
