Pedestrian seriously injured in central Worthing collision

A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision with a car in Worthing on Friday evening (May 15).
The 36-year-old local man was crossing the A259 North Street just before 8pm when he was in collision with a black Nissan Qashqai. He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
The 40-year-old driver of the Nissan, a Worthing man, was uninjured.
The road was closed for several hours while rescue, recovery and investigation work took place and was fully re-opened around 1.30am.
