HeForShe movement for gender equality

HeForShe is an invitation for men and people of all genders to stand in solidarity with women to create a bold, visible and united force for gender equality.

Since its launch, by UN Women in 2014, millions of men from around the world, including Heads of State, CEOs and global leaders have committed to gender equality. HeForShe has been the subject of more than 2 billion conversations on social media and off-line activities reaching every corner of the globe. Find out more about the movement.

Gender equality is not just a women’s issue; it’s a basic human right that benefits everyone. Sussex Police recognises the benefits of gender equality and has made its own commitment to:

• Address the gender imbalances in middle management teams.
• Address and remove the sexism and misogyny, where it exists, in police culture.

All police forces within the UK support HeForShe; the fifth annual report on Gender Equality in UK Policing looks at the progress made by forces and provides best-practice examples as to the activities and innovative practice they are undertaking to work towards gender equality.
