Adur and Worthing comprises the towns of Worthing and Shoreham, along with the parishes of Lancing and Sompting; with a combined population of 175,000 people.

The South Downs runs across the north of the area and the English Channel to the south. The area is rich in diversity and history, with Lancing College Chapel, a magnificent Gothic Revival chapel set in the South Downs National Park, which is the largest school chapel in the world; Worthing pier, which was named as the national winner of Pier of the Year 2019; a busy port at Shoreham and airport in Lancing (Brighton City airport), which is the oldest airport in the United Kingdom, originating in 1910.

Chief Inspector Sarah Leadbeatter

Sarah is part of the West Sussex Command Team and is responsible for the local policing of Adur, Worthing and Horsham districts. She leads the local Neighbourhood Policing Team consisting of both police officers and Police Community Support Officers as well as the Neighbourhood Response Teams who are all dedicated to protecting our communities, catching criminals and delivering an outstanding service to the local community.

Alongside her current role, Sarah is a Critical Incident Manager for the force, divisional lead for Stop and Search in West Sussex and is the force lead for tackling repeat victimisation.  Sarah polices her district with passion and enthusiasm, ensuring her staff keep victims and communities at the heart of everything they do.
