Police are appealing for any information after a man was hit by a motorcycle in Park Road, Burgess Hill.
The 21-year-old man suffered a dislocated shoulder and cuts and bruises in the incident at around 5.15pm on 12 October.
He had tried to intervene after recognising the motorcycle as stolen.
It is believed two young men were riding the motorcycle at the time, in convoy with a moped ridden by two young men. All were wearing tracksuits and face coverings.
Police are appealing for information on the stolen motorcycle, a BMW G 310 Z with a black, silver and white body and gold front wheel fork. The moped, which was also stolen, has been seized.
Police are treating this incident as an assault and an investigation is underway to identify those involved and to trace the stolen motorcycle.
Anyone with relevant information or dashcam footage to support the investigation, is asked to contact police on 101, quoting serial 766 of 13/10.
