Chief inspectors manage large teams of inspectors, sergeants, constables and police staff. They may be the most senior operational response officer or manage assigned specialist policing functions such as investigations. This role carries specific legal powers in line with inspector rank enabling the maintenance of law and order.
Chief inspectors plan, manage and monitor operational policing activity. They effectively and efficiently set the plan for deployment of resources to incidents, including major and/or critical incidents. Chief inspectors manage and mitigate risk effectively in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of officers, staff and the public and to respond effectively to problems, incidents and crime.

The Neighbourhood Sergeant provides frontline leadership to coordinate neighbourhood team activity, and works with the community, partners and other colleagues to deliver safer neighbourhoods.
This includes directing problem solving and engagement activity, and being responsive to community needs.
PCSOs provide a visible, accessible and approachable uniformed presence in the community, using designated powers where needed, deterring and preventing crime, and tackling antisocial behaviour.
They are problem solvers and work with partners, where needed, to address local issues.

Anti-social driving (e.g. speeding, nuisance or noisy vehicles, cycles or e-scooters on the pavement)
Addressing and taking action against ASB in the form of nuisance noise, such as noisy cars or motorbikes, noisy neighbours, loud music, or noise from public houses or late night venues.
Action taken:
•Officers continue to respond and take action against reports of ASB driving, including excess speeding, use of EScooters in public places, and loud of noisy vehicles in your area.
•Your local officers continue to conduct additional patrols of your area with a number of planned local activities coming up, including targeted action to address EScooters, with officers using both educational and enforcement powers including that of seizure to help reduce ASB driving and ASB in your area.
•Additional patrols in areas of reported ASB driving and ASB associated behaviours, including open green spaces and parks, and areas reaching out to Butts Brow to address community concerns with excess speeding and dangerous driving in the area.

Drug harm reduction
Targeting drug related crime in your town through intelligence, enforcement and partnership work.
Action taken:
•Responding to community reports, and conducting Police led operations, targeting known areas of drug use and drug dealing, as well as partnership work around known addresses causing drug harm in your area.
•Additional patrols in known areas of drug use, and areas reported by communities, resulting in arrests and closure orders recently secured in the area, details published to Sussex Police website.
