Your neighbourhood policing team
Local Policing is organised into 3 divisions, each comprising Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs) based within district teams. NPTs provide community engagement, foot patrols and assist local and partnership problem-solving. NPTs are led by a District Commander and comprise sergeants, police officers and PCSOs.
These work with youth, licensing and enforcement officers. Also, investigators, specialists, and police staff within divisions and across Sussex Police support NPTs to protect communities and catch criminals.

Police remain in the town every day, carrying out daily and evening high-visibility patrols to tackle crime and respond quickly as issues arise. Arrests continue to be made as part of our proactive approach, which includes engaging with businesses to share crime prevention advice and gather intelligence.
Our efforts are delivering results for offences such as theft, violence, and antisocial behaviour. Repeat offenders are being targeted through enforcement and court action, leading to custodial sentences and disrupting persistent criminality. The DISC system strengthens our partnership with local businesses, enabling real-time information sharing and helping us act swiftly against those causing harm. We remain committed to keeping the town safe and secure. -

Anti-social behaviour
Action taken:
Police continue to tackle antisocial behaviour with a daily presence at the pod and regular high-visibility patrols, including evenings, in hotspot areas. Officers are identifying those responsible and taking proportionate action, offering advice, engaging with parents, and issuing Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) where needed. Our approach combines enforcement with early intervention to reduce ASB and create a safer environment for everyone.

In response to ongoing concerns, we are maintaining daily patrols which have enabled us to engage more effectively and robustly with members of the street community.
We are actively enforcing the conditions of the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), including the confiscation of alcohol where appropriate, to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all. In addition, we are issuing Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) to the most persistent offenders, imposing specific behavioural conditions aimed at curbing anti-social conduct and reducing the impact on the wider community.
We are also working closely with local businesses, particularly those involved in the sale of alcohol, to raise awareness of the issues and promote responsible retail practices. This includes providing guidance on refusing sales to individuals who are known to contribute to street-level disorder.
Alongside enforcement, we continue to collaborate with partner agencies to support individuals within the street community, ensuring their welfare is considered while addressing behaviours that negatively affect public spaces. Our visible presence allows us to respond swiftly to incidents, prevent escalation, and reassure residents and visitors alike.
