Operation Downsway
Our yearly campaign to address community concerns around road and driving related offences that fall into the fatal 5 driving offences.
Action taken:
•A number of deployments including vehicle speed checks and roadside enforcement patrols have taken place in the last few months, including work alongside partners from East Sussex fire and Rescue Service who have joined your Neighbourhood Policing Team Officers on a number of occasions to provide support, as well as advice to road users around the fatal 5 driving offences.
•Over the Summer a number of road safety initiatives and campaigns will run, including the year Operation Spotlight, and Two-Wheeled road safety campaigns, details of these and any additional checks conducted will be posted to social media, as well as any convictions as a result of enforcement throughout the coming months.
•Continued work with partners, local authorities, including volunteer Community Speed Watch Groups to support activities and keep the roads of your towns and villages safe for all road users, which are often used as a cut through.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB), and anti-social driving (e.g. speeding, nuisance or noisy vehicles, cycles or e-scooters on the pavement)
Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.
Action taken:
•Officers continue working with partners and youth organisations, including schools and colleges to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB.
•Police continue to address and take action against ASB in the form of nuisance noise, such as noisy cars or motorbikes, a number of deployments in the last few months have led to arrests and seizures of vehicles causing ASB in the area, details of which have been published to our Sussex Police website.
