Anti-social behaviour (ASB)
Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.
Action taken:
•Additional patrols across the area to deter ASB and identify those involved.
•Hotspot areas and targeted patrols include around the Nevill estate and park areas, as well as down into the Ousedale estate, as well as reported ASB down from areas of the old racecourse and along Spital Road, following ASB associated with ASB driving, and reports of off-road motorbikes in the local estates.
•Officers also continue to engage with young people to identify those at risk of becoming involved in ASB, providing early support, building positive relationships, and working with partners to divert individuals away from offending behaviour and towards more constructive activities both during, and outside of term-time.

Priority:
Operation Downsway / Speeding
Our yearly campaign to address community concerns around road and driving related offences that fall into the fatal 5 driving offences, including speeding, dangerous driving and use of mobile phones at the wheel.
Action taken:
•Most recently a day of action along Nevill Road, with officers deployed to deter and identify fatal 5 driving offences including those of speeding. A number of drivers were both spoken to, and issued traffic offence reports (TORs) during the day, with future days of actions planned. (Details of which were posted to our Lewes Police Facebook page at the time to help keep residents updated).
•Extra patrols, educational and enforcement activities across the district focused on targeting excess speed and distracted driving continue into the coming months with a number of upcoming Police led operations starting soon, including Op Spotlight (speeding) and Op Limit (drink/drug driving).
