Police are investigating after a vehicle crashed into a shopfront and caught fire in Sutton Road on 20 September.
Jamie Hall has been jailed for three years and two months for the offences.
His crimes took place between 2022 and 2025.

•Continued work alongside partners, and local authorities to address community concerns, including partnership work with housing and British Transport Police to target those using the train network to conduct crime.
•Patrols of known areas of drug use, working alongside partners including Lewes District Council to address concerns of discarded drug paraphernalia reported by residents.
•Any warrants executed, or drug related arrests made throughout the last few months will be published to Sussex Police website.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB), and ASB associated with nuisance vehicles including off road bikes, e-scooters and motorbikes.
Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.
Addressing and taking action against ASB in the form of nuisance noise, such as noisy cars or motorbikes.

•Additional patrols of open green spaces, car parks, abandoned buildings and parks in the area continue into the coming months, with officers activity engaging with youngsters following recent reports from local residents around an increase in youth related ASB in public areas.
•In recent weeks, officers from various local policing teams, including the Fatal Five Unit and your Lewes Neighbourhood Policing Team, have been carrying out proactive patrols along coastal areas following incidents involving off-road bikes and anti-social driving, already two off road bikes have been seized from the roads, following ASB and dangerous driving in an around Newhaven, one being in the Fort Road area.
•Neighbourhood Youth Officers continue to get into schools to engage with youngsters at key stages of devolvement to discuss ASB, low level crime and the effects actions can have on communities, officers also drop in regularly at the Newhaven Youth Centre to engage with youngsters.

Operation Downsway / Speeding
Our yearly campaign to address community concerns around road and driving related offences that fall into the fatal 5 driving offences, including speeding which has been raised as a priority by local residents.

•Extra patrols, educational and enforcement activities across the district continue into the coming months, focused on targeting excess speed, distracted driving, as well as mobile phone use.
•Following recent meetings, issues with speeding raise, PCSOs looking to work alongside Roads Safety Unit and Community Speed Watch to set up future enforcement checks in the area, as well as encourage reporting and joining CSW with leaflets already given to both councils, and residents.
