Local Policing is organised into 3 divisions, each comprising Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs) based within district teams. NPTs provide community engagement, foot patrols and assist local and partnership problem-solving. NPTs are led by a District Commander and comprise sergeants, police officers and PCSOs.
These work with youth, licensing and enforcement officers. Also, investigators, specialists, and police staff within divisions and across Sussex Police support NPTs to protect communities and catch criminals.

•Recent police and partner deployments across the town in the last few months to tackle ASB driving, including excess speeding have led to a number of positive stops and vehicle seizures. (Details of which have been posted to our Lewes Police Facebook page).
•Extra patrols continue into the Summer months, with educational and enforcement activities across the district focused on targeting excess speed and distracted driving, including mobile phone use.
•Ongoing work alongside Ringmer Community Speed Watch to address community concerns of excess speeding through the village, with officers regularly supporting CSW in the village.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB), and youth related crime and disorder (e.g. youth related ASB, large groups or threatening behaviours)
Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.
Issued 01 June 2026
•Officers also continue to engage with young people in the areas to identify those at risk of becoming involved in ASB, providing early support, building positive relationships, and working with partners to divert individuals away from offending behaviour and towards more constructive activities.
•Patrols in areas of reported anti-social behaviour continue, officers continue, with patrols of park areas and open spaces reported by communities as areas of high ASB.
•Neighbourhood Youth officers also continuing visiting local schools, with a focus on raising awareness of ASB outside of school hours, and looking to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB.
