  • Our priorities
  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Anti-social behaviour (ASB)

Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

•Continued work with partners and youth organisations, including schools and colleges to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB.

•Hotspot areas and targeted patrols include areas through The Crouch gardens and The Salts as well as the town centre to deter crime, and identify offenders during the Summer months.

•Engagement events continue as an opportunity for residents to raise concerns and highlight areas of ASB direct to officer, all reports help to assist officers in their patrol locations to ensure together we are providing a police presence in areas which have seen an increase in ASB.

•Officers also continue to engage with young people to identify those at risk of becoming involved in ASB, providing early support, building positive relationships, and working with partners to divert individuals away from offending behaviour and towards more constructive activities.

    Actioned 01 June 2026

  • Priority:

    Operation Downsway

Our yearly campaign to address community concerns around road and driving related offences that fall into the fatal 5 driving offences.

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

•Extra patrols, educational and enforcement activities across the district focused on targeting excess speed and distracted driving, including mobile phone use continue into the Summer months.

•Days of action held in the last few months to target ASB driving on the roads of Seaford and along the coast around excess speeding; led to a number of positive stops and vehicle seizures, details of which have been added to our Sussex Police website, and posted to our Lewes Police Facebook page.

    Actioned 01 June 2026

  • Priority:

    Town Centre business crime

Supporting town centre businesses in targeting repeat offenders, and working to reduce business crime through collaborative work, through both increased patrols, and police and partner led operations to tackle business crime, and bring those responsible to justice.

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

•Police patrols aimed offering a high visibility police presence in the town centre continue, and residents can expect to see an increase in patrol over the Summer months in your town centre.

•Continued joint activities with partners to support staff and business in the town centre.

•A number of positive arrests made for crimes against businesses in the area in recent months, including individuals causing significant harm in the town, details of these have been posted to our Sussex Police website and our Lewes Police Facebook page.
