Police are investigating a fire in the doorway to a flat in Endwell Road, Bexhill, at 9.54pm on Friday (17 April).
East Sussex Fire and Rescue attended and put out the fire which started in the doorway of a flat. Two people in the flat escaped without injury and were checked over by paramedics at the scene.
Detective Inspector Mors Lambert said: "We are carrying out enquiries and are keen to hear from any witnesses or from anyone has any relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward. Please report online or phone 101 quoting serial 1581 of 17/04."
