Charitable Trust Champions

Would you like to help spread the word about the Charitable Trust by becoming an SPCT Champion? SPCT Champions are invaluable to the Trust and helps to ensure that when a colleague is in need they know we are there to help. Being an SPCT Champion will not take up a lot of your time, but will make a big difference to the Trust and our members by helping to keep us visible.

Champions are asked to:

• encourage people to join the Trust (and give out membership forms)
• remind colleagues they can contact the Trust for support at times of difficulty
• keep notice boards up to date with Trust posters
• alert the SPCT staff to opportunities to give talks or set up a stall
• promote ‘key messages’ about the Trust (below)
• relay feedback as appropriate about the Trust to the Trust staff (be a critical friend)

Champions do not give guidance or advice on behalf of the Trust to members who are experiencing difficulties but should encourage people to talk to Trust Advisers. 

Charitable Trust key messages

• Membership is open to all officers, staff and specials
• Membership is just £3 a month, deductible through payroll
• By joining the Trust you are also helping your colleagues
• You don’t have to be in financial hardship to receive support from the Trust
• The Trust can help with all sorts of problems including illness and injury, housing, debt, other financial issues, essential household items, legal issues, mobility problems, emergency childcare, relationships, stress, depression, anxiety. SPCT has a property in Dorset which is for recuperation for members and those close to them
• Financial support cannot be given if payment has already been made; members should contact the Trust as soon as possible if they are in difficulty
• The service given is confidential
