Officers are appealing for witnesses and information following a series of commercial burglaries reported in Bexhill during the early hours of Saturday, 6 June, and Sunday, 7 June.

Officers are investigating a number of incidents affecting businesses in the town centre and seafront areas, including reports of premises being broken into and cash stolen.

The incidents include:

  • A burglary at a takeaway food business in Devonshire Road at around 4.45am on Saturday, 6 June, where entry was gained after the front door was damaged.
  • A burglary at a beauty business in Sea Road at around 4.25am on Saturday, 6 June, during which a safe was stolen.
  • A burglary at a wine bar and cafe in Marina, reported on Sunday, 7 June, in which a till containing cash was stolen.
  • A burglary at a restaurant in Marina, at around 4.55am on Sunday, 7 June, where cash and a bottle of whisky was reported stolen.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish whether the incidents are linked.

Bexhill Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Tom Mele said: "We understand the concern these incidents will cause to local business owners and the wider community.

"We want to reassure residents and traders that these offences are being treated seriously. Officers are carrying out a number of enquiries, including reviewing CCTV opportunities and conducting additional patrols in affected areas as part of our efforts to deter further offending and identify those responsible.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity, vehicles or individuals in the Devonshire Road, Sea Road or Marina areas during the early hours of 6 and 7 June.

"We would also ask anyone with CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile phone footage from those areas and times to contact us".

Anyone with information is asked to report it online or call 101, quoting reference 47260137691.
